Commercial property: investment valuations
Commercial property held for income returns derived from rents is commonly referred to as 'investment property'. This section provides an introduction to investment valuations, giving a general understanding of techniques used to value such property. It is not intended to provide training in valuation techniques but rather to give anyone new to investment valuations a general understanding of the mathematical techniques (implicit or explicit methods) employed by valuers and the matters that need to be taken into account.
This section was originally based on Property investment valuation in the UK: A brief guide for users of valuations, produced by the RICS Valuation Professional Group. It is now maintained by Joshua Askew FRICS of JLL.
