Maintenance and repairing obligations

Issues of maintenance and repair often cause conflict between landlords and tenants. On the face of it, both share an interest in ensuring that a property is maintained and repaired. However, the issue of who bears the responsibility, and therefore the cost, of such works can lead to disagreement, as can the standard to which the property should be maintained.

This section explains the repairing obligations of both the landlord and tenant and discusses the options available to tenants where a property is in disrepair.
