ISO 14001 and environmental management systems
This section introduces and reviews ISO 14001:2015, Environmental management systems – Requirements with guidance for use.
ISO 14001 sets out the requirements for an EMS (environmental management system). It supports organisations in improving their environmental performance through a more efficient use of energy and resources and reducing waste, while gaining a competitive advantage and the trust of stakeholders as well as protecting the environment. The current 2015 edition covers a wide scope of environmental factors, including considering the life cycle of products, activities and services within the scope of an organisation’s EMS.
