Introduction to whole life carbon
This section reviews the role that buildings play in contributing to global warming through the emission of carbon over the entire building life cycle, and what can be done to reduce this.
It looks at the causes of global warming and the UK’s obligations to mitigate this. It also considers climate change and the built environment, reviewing how the built environment can reduce its contribution to global warming. It then looks at opportunities to decarbonise throughout the four stages of the building life cycle: design, construction, operation and end of life.
This section is maintained by Emily Baigent of Tuffin Ferraby Taylor LLP and and Carolina Caneva of Hilson Moran.
