Air quality issues
Air pollution is currently the largest environmental health risk in the UK. This section explains:
- what air pollution is
- how air pollution affects health and
- the current UK legislation regulating air pollution.
It also covers air quality in the context of planning, specifically the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), which requires planners to take into account the impact on air quality during the planning process.
There are also suggestions provided on good design principles and how to mitigate air quality impacts where possible during the planning stage.
This section is maintained by Hannah Dennett and Paul Manktelow of Arcadis.
