Current laminated timber is constructed from stress graded longitudinal strips of timber, planed to a close fit and glued together using phenolresoreinol formaldehyde (PRF) adhesives. Individual strips are usually finger jointed. Its relative low weight in comparison to steel and concrete means that self-weight is less of a constraint in design...
