Water and drainage
Water and drainage infrastructure is a major source of ongoing construction and maintenance activity in the UK. It has been affected by:
- decades of underinvestment
- rising populations
- tightening environmental standards and
- climate change.
This area of infrastructure often impacts private property, access to which is usually via statutory powers of entry. Implementing this entry and dealing with compensation for affected owners and occupiers is an important role for surveyors.
This section considers the:
- regulatory background
- nature of the infrastructure itself and
- the role of the surveyor in the overall project delivery.
This section is maintained by James Pegrum and George Simpson of Fisher German.
