Introduction to technical requirements
The technical requirements of infrastructure projects derive from a blend of factors. They can range from pure engineering to legal compliance. Individual areas of infrastructure have their own nuances in these requirements, too.
This section aims to explain some of the technical aspects of these different areas. It hopes to demystify what might appear to be opaque terminology.
It first outlines the drivers for technical requirements. It then considers the design and construction phases in some detail. This involves addressing diverse areas such as:
- relevant design codes and standards
- BIM and
- the process of managing geotechnical risk.
The section also covers operations and maintenance and planning and the environment.
This section is maintained by Ian Draycott of Steel Blue Ltd.
