Biography

Prof. Catalina Turcu’s work focuses on sustainability transformations in the built environment, with particular emphasis on the social and governance aspects. Her research has looked through these lenses at sustainable cities, urban indicators, housing, energy, circularity and food, with climate, health and green space her current areas of work.

Catalina is also the Director of University College London’s Sustainable Development Goal Research Accelerator, an initiative that focuses on urban, climate and health goals in the built environment, and engages with stakeholders beyond academia to provide evidence-based support, knowledge and advice. She regularly advises governments, professional bodies and international organisations such as the EU, World Bank, OECD, UN and WHO. Catalina also has valuable insights from ten years’ work in architecture and planning consultancy before she moved into academia in 2010.
