Biography

Ruth Martin BA (Hons), MA, MRTPI, PIEMA is an environmental consultant with more than 20 years’ experience in both the public and private sectors. She has particular knowledge and expertise in environmental impact assessment (EIA) and has coordinated the scoping, preparation and completion of a wide range of EIAs for residential, commercial, education, leisure, mixed-use and infrastructure development proposals. She also has considerable experience of sustainability appraisal (SA) and has undertaken SAs for a variety of policy documents and development proposals.

As a chartered town planner, Ruth also has a good working knowledge of the UK planning system and legislation, in particular the way it relates to EIA processes and procedures.

Ruth joined Waterman as Associate Director in September 2012, having previously held positions at Parsons Brinckerhoff (2008–12) and Savills (2005–08), where she project managed EIAs and undertook other environmental planning work. Before this she held a variety of positions in local authorities in Portsmouth and Cardiff, where she specialised in environmental planning matters.
