Biography

Jeffrey Tribich BSc BArch PgC ARB RIBA MRICS CMIOSH CMaPS is a chartered building surveyor, registered chartered architect and chartered safety and health practitioner. He has forty years of construction industry experience on projects large and small. Working initially as an architect designing buildings and administering newbuild, refurbishment and defects remedial contracts, he has also worked as a building surveyor and safety and health practitioner. His practice has covered a wide range of sectors and building types, including many prestigious developments.

His extensive experience includes a large number of principal designer appointments under The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015), as well as providing advice to principal designers and to clients. Prior to CDM 2015 coming into force, he also worked as a CDM coordinator (CDM 2007) and planning supervisor (CDM 1994). In addition, he has party wall and neighbourly matters experience, including preparing boundary reports for large development sites, and has carried out surveys and defects investigations, health and safety consultancy and related services, including training. He has been appointed as an expert witness on a range of cases involving professional negligence, quality of design, building quality, materials, planning and health and safety.

He has been a member of the RICS Health and Safety Advisory Group since 1995, is its former chair and is a co-author of successive versions of Surveying safely (all bar the first), including the first and second edition guidance notes. He is also a member of the RICS Asbestos Working Group and worked on the fourth edition of the Asbestos guidance note, which was published in May 2021. He represents RICS on the CIC Health and Safety Committee, is an RICS APC assessor and a past APS Publications Panel member. He writes articles for various publications and is a regular contributor to the RICS Built Environment Journal.

Jeffrey Tribich Consulting accepts principal designer appointments under CDM 2015 and provides CDM advice to principal designers, clients and principal contractors. In addition, the firm provides health and safety advice and acts as a ‘competent person’ to businesses under The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. The firm also carries out party wall appointments under the Party Wall etc Act 1996, performs boundary surveys of large development sites and accepts expert witness appointments in design-, construction- and health and safety-related cases.
