David Proverbs, BSc (Hons), PG Cert Ed, PhD, MBA, PFHEA, FCIOB, FRICS and Professor of Construction Management, is Associate Pro Vice-Chancellor for Enterprise and Business Innovation at De Montfort University. He has pioneered the development of flood recovery approaches to the benefit of many governments, agencies, charities, companies and institutions worldwide.

He has published extensively on flood risk management topics including recovery, adaptation and resilience. He has also collaborated on significant international research projects funded by a range of sources to improve resilience to flooding in locations such as Brazil, China, the Dominican Republic, Nigeria and Peru.

His research has had a significant impact in the development of UK climate change policy, and on national flood risk strategies in Brazil, China, Nigeria and Peru as well as the UK. He is also a member of the Environment Agency’s Regional Flood and Coastal Committee, and editor of the International Journal of Building Pathology and Adaptation, published by Emerald.
