James Browne was called to the Bar in 1994. His expertise includes all aspects of landlord & tenant law, both residential and commercial, including: disrepair and dilapidations; nuisance and anti-social behaviour; unlawful subletting; rent reviews; service charge disputes (including declaratory relief); possession claims under all statutory regimes and under common law; all issues arising out of the 2004 tenancy deposit protection legislation (both as originally enacted and after amendment under the Localism Act 2011); all claims and applications under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954; trusts of land (especially trusts for sale and disputes following break-up of unmarried couples); easements, options, adverse possession and boundary disputes; and professional negligence of letting agents.

Gerry Fox is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (FRICS) and has just retired. He has been involved in the profession for more than 50 years. During this time he worked for the London County Council and Greater London Council dealing with acquisition and management.
He moved to the private sector in the early 1970s. He continued to be involved in valuations and increasingly in the management of blocks of flats. He continued at Board level with leading companies: Gross Fine and Krieger Chalfen, Fineman Lever and Peverel.
Gerry has been active with the RICS since the mid-1980s and has chaired many committees and groups and chaired the working parties which produced the 2 editions of the RICS Service Charge Residential Management Code both of which were approved by the government. He has been involved in new legislation, lectured extensively, written articles and broadcast on residential management topics, particularly service charges.

David Smith works for Anthony Gold Solicitors. David focuses on new legislation and how it affects lettings agents. He lectures for private clients as well as regularly speaking for ARLA, the NAEA, and CLT. David is also an Accredited Mediator.
