Martin Edwards practised as a Solicitor in both local government and private practice, before transferring to the Bar in 1995. He joined the Chambers of Lionel Read QC before moving to 39 Essex Chambers in 2002 and then Cornerstone Barristers in 2014. Drawing on his combined practical experience as a Solicitor and Barrister, he acts for a wide range of clients from both the private and public sectors, mainly in the fields of planning, environmental and compulsory purchase. Martin recognises that the role of the advocate begins long before he appears at the inquiry or in court. Consequently, his public inquiry work frequently involves advising on tactics and leading multi-disciplinary teams, often before the planning application is submitted.

Alan Gunne-Jones is a Chartered Town Planner and Managing Director of Planning & Development Associates Ltd, an independent practice offering planning and development consultancy services to private and public sector clients throughout the UK. He previously held senior positions at Tribal Group plc and Capita Symonds, and is a former local authority Chief Planning Officer. He has also worked overseas on assignment to the Department for International Development.

Alan has more than 25 years' experience as a chartered town planning adviser, advocate and expert witness. He acts for developers, landowners, investors, local authorities and individuals on all aspects of planning and related consents. Alan is experienced in a variety of planning and enforcement appeals and inquiries, including pursuit of actions in the High Court and Privy Council.

Alan has contributed to several major planning research commissions, including Effective Planning Services (RTPI, 1992) and the National Evaluation of Planning Performance Agreements (CLG/HCA, 2010).

Alan has written 2 books for RICS: Planning permission made easy - a homeowner's guide and Town planning 2009 - a practical guide.
