- Lease renewal - length of new term
- Summary
-
The tenant only sought a 5-year term. The landlord wanted 15. It adduced evidence that a short term would damage the value of its reversion. The court sought to balance the interests of both parties and ultimately ordered a new term of 10 years (double the length of term the tenant wanted). This shows that the court will sometimes order a longer lease than the tenant seeks.
