An early Victorian water pump. While this might be an attractive feature for a prospective purchaser, for the surveyor it might indicate the possible location of a high water table. In older properties there might also be old wells in the vicinity and the quality of caps to wells can be variable. All the above should give rise to concerns about damp to the solid floor in this area and be followed up with a full internal inspection where possible.
