Biography

Prof. Sarah L. Sayce BSc (Hons), PhD, FRICS, IRRV is a part-time Professor in Sustainable Real Estate at the Royal Agricultural University and Emeritus Professor at Kingston University. Initially qualifying as a chartered surveyor, she gained experience of both the corporate field and consultancy before moving into an academic role. She quickly became Head of School and gained a PhD from the University of Reading.

Sarah is an active, widely published researcher and public speaker across many aspects of sustainability in the built environment, and sustainable communities and higher education. Sarah's extensive research project management experience includes leading the £3 million government-funded Centre for Sustainable Communities Achieved through Integrated Professional Education (C-SCAIPE). Since leaving her post as Depatment head at Kingston University where she retains an Emeritus Professorship, Sarah has been appointed as a part-time professor at Royal Agricultural University and she is a visiting academic to both City University and University of Reading where she contributes to the Real Estate Programme.

Sarah's recent clients include RICS, DCLG and the Green Construction Board. Sarah has sat on many university committees, has acted as a quality assurance agency auditor/reviewer and has been a member of a number of working groups including for government and charities. She is currently working with the Ethical Property Company and as an adviser to the Property Working Group of the United Nations Environment Programme's Finance Initiative. Sarah is also a school governor.

An active RICS member, Sarah is an elected member of RICS Governing Council and serves on several committees. For some years she was the Chair of the Council of Heads of the Built Environment and is now Joint Executive Officer.
