Biography

Bruce Keith BSc FRICS CEnv FCIWEM is a retired chartered surveyor and chartered environmentalist with a specialist interest in the sustainable management of property. 

Until 2014, Bruce was Head of Property at SSE (Scottish and Southern Energy plc) with responsibility for a diverse property portfolio of commercial offices, operational depots and generation sites, including hydroelectric power stations and wind farm developments. This role included overseeing a programme of measures to secure energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. 

Previously, Bruce was Chief Surveyor at English Nature, latterly Natural England, a non-departmental government body with responsibility for the commercial office estate and an extensive rural estate comprising the suite of national nature reserves. He is also former Chair of the Rural Faculty Board at RICS.

Since retiring in 2014, Bruce has researched and authored three books on Scottish history and geography and the conservation of the built and natural environment. He remains active in his professional institutions, particularly in the areas of professional learning and development.
