Biography

James Browne was called to the Bar in 1994. His expertise includes all aspects of landlord & tenant law, both residential and commercial, including: disrepair and dilapidations; nuisance and anti-social behaviour; unlawful subletting; rent reviews; service charge disputes (including declaratory relief); possession claims under all statutory regimes and under common law; all issues arising out of the 2004 tenancy deposit protection legislation (both as originally enacted and after amendment under the Localism Act 2011); all claims and applications under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954; trusts of land (especially trusts for sale and disputes following break-up of unmarried couples); easements, options, adverse possession and boundary disputes; and professional negligence of letting agents.
